    Game Laws Question (Pheasant)

My lease borders (river) Joshua Creek Hunting Preserve in Kendall county.
They hunt stocked ringnecks and we see a few on our place. Can I shoot legally them?

It the state has a season on them you have to hunt by the state guidelines, but if the state does not have a season on them , you can shoot them at your will....... Just like elk in texas.....

If they are farm-raised birds, then shoot away.. They are not regulated by the state...

Stupid me didn't have a dig camera with me or I'd post pics. Did get some 35mm shots though.

Pretty interesting though to watch him hunker down and hide in the grass when some crows flew over.

Got one squirrel hunting one morning. Made a centerpiece for my cowboy hat out of the feathers, back when that was the style.

I found out !! Pheasants are a game bird in Texas....pen raised or not, its a game bird , have to follow the law..

Law reads.....selected counties in Panhandle..:Season is Dec.2-31 and selected coastal counties season...nov 4th- Feb 25th....

If it was whacked under a feeder it would be a illegal harvest under the baited section, LOL!!!!!

a pheasant is NOT a migratory gamebird, therefore it can be hunted over bait just like turkey and quail.

If they are pen raised and you are hunting on a commercial operation you can shoot until your arm gets sore or you run out of $$ to pay for the birds you have taken. Trust me, I have done it and it was quite legal.

I use to guide at that shooting preserve and released many birds. All were leg banned to show they were penned rasied. The only birds hunted on that ranch that were native to the area were mallard ducks which also were banned. They use to hunt chuckar also. Shoot and enjoy the meal!
