Stinking Tired of my Cheap Old Cameras!!

I have picked up craigslist trail cameras since 2006. And even bought a new Wildview Cam two winters ago. They all STINK!!!

Old StealthCam.....hard to program, and hardly ever takes pics
2006 Moultrie Cam......6 D batteries....and still only lasts a few weeks, and poor pic quality....blurry deer and inconsistent trigger
2004 Moultrie Cam.....HUGE V6 battery, and super poor battery life. Horrible trigger and inconsistant
2010 Wildview......white out pics at dawn and dusk. Good pics in middle of day, but inconsistant trigger. (didn't trigger with me staring at it today) and 4 C batteries don't last.

I want to have 4-6 cams....but I think all of the above are going to the landfill. Would love to have cams that all downloaded pics to a single card, so I don't have to go stinking up my hunting areas to check cards.

What do you guys use and like? Of course I would LOVE a reconyx, but dropping $500-$600 on a single cam is not in my budget. $200 is more my limit.

Looked at the Spypoint cam that have the secondary black box they transmit pics too....but looks like the technology is about 1-2 years away from being perfected.

My top two pics right now are:
Bushnell Trophy Cam HD - got some great reviews....but I can't find them for the $199.95 price quoted in this review.
Shop game and trail cameras for hunting, property security, and wildlife surveillance. Trailcampro offers trail cams from the top brands in the industry.

Moultrie M80-XT - got some good reviews
Shop game and trail cameras for hunting, property security, and wildlife surveillance. Trailcampro offers trail cams from the top brands in the industry.

    What do you guys think?

      Second Primos.

The older Bushnell Trophy Cams were awesome, but they seem to have gone down hill according to Chasing Game. To be fair, I haven't bought one in a few years so I have no first hand knowledge of that.

Everything I've ever owned or known that said Moultrie has been pure junk.

Personally, you can't go wrong with either of the 2 camera's mentioned, everyone is going to have problems with either of them at some point, I have the M-80 (regular) and although day pictures are great, if there is any movement, it blurs, unless they come out with some serious cameras next year, i'll be getting 4-5 of the Trophy Cams

You didnt ask this but here is my thoughts. I went old school this year no cams just back to basics set up a bump feeder and called it good. To me it took some of the thrill out of the hunt.....knowing what was coming to my feeder and not being "surprised" at what stepped out of the tree line.....not setting there saying, oh its that little 4, 6 or 8 point I been seeing on camera. Like you I had the cheeper cameras all have craped out so I chose not to replace them. Good luck

            Moultrie Game Spy® D-65IRXT

Just picked this one up today at academ. Was gonna go M-80, but I'm pushing my budget this already.

            I would go M-80xt.

I read a review that showed they didn't perform that well at night.

Same here!! I have gone through 4 Moultrie game cams, now. But they were all manufactured prior to 2007. So I figured they might have worked out the bugs in the past 5 years, or they wouldn't still be selling cameras. Plus, they are getting great reviews.

Shop CL for a Reconyx. I've got one that has been on a rechargeable battery and solar panel for over 5 years, not a lick of trouble out of that camera. I would rather drop the coin on a better camera and not have to worry about it for a long time.

Ha! Actually did!! No Reconyx laying around here in Kansas City.

Add up all the money and expenses of the cheap camera variety and compare to the Reconyx and the difference is not that much. I have had mine now going on third or fourth full season and love it. Zero issues after thousands of photos and only have changed the batteries once.

I have a bunch of the Bushnell Trophy cams. They are all 2011 models I believe and havent had any problems. The only complaint is the night pics can be a little blurry but Im not looking for award winning pics just want to know what is hanging around that I need to hunt. They have a 2 yr warranty that I believe is unmatched by the other manufactures. I have had nearly all of the makes and models of cameras out there and these have been the best by far. The others have been as frustrating to use and they were helpful.

I've returned Bushnell's twice to the factory and both times new cameras were sent back no questions asked.

I would look at DLCCovert's Black Ops camera. It's more than the price point of those 1 cameras but it's cheaper than the high-end cameras. I got one recently after using high end cameras for years and I've been VERY impressed. Aside from a slightly slower trigger speed, that special ops camera is very competitive with reconnyx. I would stay away from Moultrie. There will always be folks that have good luck with even junk equipment but that doesn't mean it's good stuff. If you don't want to be disappointed, I think you're going to have to take a little bigger step up. Get 3 good cameras instead of 4 and the end-price will be the same with better results. Good luck!

M80 takes some good pics for me. Have had one up for about a month now with no problems. I do have a solar panel on it and batteries still say 93% after a month of pics (about 400-500 pics). Really love the wide angle (widescreen version) of pics.
