I would make sure you aren't pressuring them more than usual i.e. Visiting feeder or camera more often, hunting bad wind etc.

Yeah the moon will effect time of movement and during the peak rut hunt all day because the big bucks will mess up running these doe like crazy

Change your feeding times and set feeders to throw less corn. With as green most of the state is, they're not hitting corn much anyway. Their patterns will change as well when the bachelor groups break up and the rut gets fired up.

I also cut back my feeder times to throw less. Had too much corn under them during the night time. Acorns are prevalent right now and until there's a few more rains to rot them, then they usually don't hit the corn well. I did add some buck candy to my corn last time and it did bring in more bucks, but still at night. Same happened last year. Just wait and hunt all day if you can. Often times I would climb down the stand and take an hour nap at the base of the tree instead of coming and going between morning and afternoon hunts. It's harder on the body but I did score a nice atypical 22 point by not moving about as much. Took me the 4th week in October and it coincided with me seeing young bucks fighting, so I rattled him in.

Let's see. If I hunt midday I should get more sleep as I don't have
to get up early.
It shouldn't be as cold during later season?
I should be able to see the deer at all times (sun fully up)
Many big bucks are killed at this time
Plenty of daylight left for tracking processing.

My wife has tons of hooney doos
Boring hunting due to lack of action during midday
Wind tends to increase and sun makes me sleepy
I can't socialize with the other hunters if I'm out while they are in
I like watching the sunrise/set and the woods come alive.
I may jump deer going in.
Things I should be doing middle of the day (hard to concentrate)

I brink an iPad, and listen to electronic books, and watch downloaded movies.


I expect that they will come around.

That way when the rut starts one will be in the right place at the wrong time

Smart deer are smart. When the Rut is full swing Bucks get like a guy in a low class bar....stupid. Wait, Wait and then wait....Bucks will get stupid as long as you wait for them to get stupid.

True statement though. If you can get does comin in, the bucks will be chasin' so some hardcore stand time is often needed.
