    Looking for new lightweight climber

Wanted to see if anyone has used any of the really lightweight stands on the market. I have been using ol'man stands for 25 years. I am looking to lighten my load with a new lightweight climber. Looking at the new alumalite that weighs 19lbs from ol'man, the new lightweight summit viper elite sd that weighs 16lbs and the timbertall original baby lite that weighs 11 lbs. All 3 stands are close to $300 in price and I want to make sure I will like the stand. Worried about the sizing on the timbertall. They say it will accommodate up to a 38" waist and I am a 36" waist now. Hate to not fit in it next season or have to quit eating. If you have used one of these three stands I would like to hear a review on it. I want to know how safe and comfortable they are. Always felt safe in my ol'man just getting tired of lugging 30lbs in and out.

You should look at this new innovative design climber by X-Stand.

One of the lightest if not THE lightest on the market and is not only easy to carry but easy to use!

Had not thought about the lone wolf stands at $400 price range. Anyone out there used the timbertall? Does the alumalite really slip sometimes?

            Slip?

Watch the X-Stand video. What this guy has done with the bow limb idea is a superior design.

I love my Summit for comfort but this X-stand is a breaze to carry and set up. Only one bungy holding this thing together when you back pack it. My summit makes noise taking it apart and putting around tree takes too much time. The X-stand is a breeze with the bowlimb technology incorporated!

I have read reviews from some people claiming the alumalite from ol'man sometimes slips while climbing. They say the teeth are not sharp enough.

Any place in Texas or around Shreveport to check out the X stand? Would have to demo that one before I would buy it. Looks a little springy in the video.

I have one of the timbertalls and don't like it...too narrow for me and I'm not a large bodied person and I can't it locked solid to trees. Got the Summit Viper Elite on order now. Not the same seat as my other summits but we'll see how it sits.
Wish that X-stand had a 'butt bar' for climbing since I don't have a lot of upper body strength to pull myself up or hold while climbing. Interesting concept.

Thanks for the review on the timbertall stands. It seems like summit is what people like most. Had a buddy that had an API few years back and it was noisy banging together. I though the summit seemed very similar to the API.

I have both several summit vipers and api grand slam supremes. Both are pretty comfortable but I just like the cable instead of the chains for climbing. The cables on the summits seem to last longer. The api chains and pins are a pain in the dark when you are trying to be quick and silent.
Hard to go wrong with a summit !

I decided not to trust a new stand I had not used before and stay with what I have been using for years and trust. So I ordered and ol'man pro series in aluminum and a Summit surround seat to add to it. Lightweight, quiet climbing, rock solid and comfortable. The best of all worlds. I even found the aluminum series stands dipped in mossy oak for $199 at Natchez Shooters and the Summit surround seat for $59 and in stock at Woodbury Outfitters online. Sure glad Cabelas was out of stock at $99 on the seat. Saved me some money.
