    Smoker build question????

I know alot of guys on here have built alot of custom smokers. I am building a smoker out of a old air tank and its in great shape I have put it on trailer and a fishi cooker and a grill the whole nine yards but my question is before i go down and have it sandblasted. I need to know if the inside of the tank needs to be blasted and painted or just blasted or neither I am stumped at this point..... PLEASE HELP Thank you.......

I would blast it but not paint it. when the smoker is finished, coat the inside with some type of cooking oil/crisco/etc and heat it up. The inside will eventually get seasoned similar to a cast iron skillet. You may need to recoat it after a while.

      X2 to what Burnadell said.

I'll take one or a couple poor quality hams (lots of fat) and smoke them the first round. After a couple hours, use heavy gloves and rub the ham all over the inside. This will help the heated metal inside absorb the fat (oil). Do this a few times.

Obviously, don't eat the ham once you're done.

Post up some pics of the build.
