Will Sheldon and the Crew be there?

I had a friend from college move in as a roommate for a while. Everything was cool for about 6 months then he began hosting D&D parties. At first I tolerated it because they would meet during the work week and I was usually asleep when he would have the dorks over. Then he had a party on the weekend, and I swear it looked like a Lord of the Rings convention right in my living room. It was too much to bear, and I kicked him out the next day.
And just as a public service announcement, if your personal space is ever infringed upon by an act of LARPing, they are VERY easily repelled by a paintball gun. Not that I would know anything about that from direct personal experience or anything...

Though I have never played, I have worked in IT for 12 years and have been in the midst of players the entire time... Hell my first roommate in Pendleton would take leave just to sit in the barracks and play Everquest (kinda like the World of Warcraft game). In my experience these are some of the nicest coworkers I have ever had and would give you the shirt off their back just for being nice to them. Not judging anyone either way, but you might give it a shot if you're even a bit interested. Could be worse, you could be invited to a "Twilight" watching party!!!

While this might not be your thing. I think you should consider it quite a compliment to be invited. I am sure they take their game seriously, and asked after considering the people they know.
She probably views you as open minded, with a good imagination, and fun to hang out with.
Because this is a work thing, I would be very polite in my decline to participate.
Someone I use to know always said.....It's always nice to be asked, even if you have no interest.
Resume the nerd/dork/geek bashing, at least until you need IT help!
