    barbed wire question

OK cowboys...got a question about barbed wire...I'm about to redo about 3/4 mile of fence and am starting to round up supplies...I have always used that OK 12 gauge standard 2 point but am considering going to the cattleman 14 gauge high tensile 2 point. The cattleman is a class 3 wire instead of a class 1 (more galvanizing) stronger than 12 gauge standard, doesn't stretch like standard wire, and is supposed to roll out without "memory" which is the usual complaint about high tensile wire. The cattleman is actually cheaper because it doesn't use as much steel (weight) per roll.

Anyone have any experience running this cattleman wire?

I haven't. We've always used Red Brand. NOT Red Barb.

No experience with Cattleman wire. I have always used Gaucho 4 part wire. Pull it tight and you wont have to worry about livestock pushing up against it.

Yeah, I like 2 point. If it takes 4 point to keep a cow in it doesn't live on my place for long. Doesn't gaucho have memory and won't roll out flat?

I can't answer your question but use Gaucho at my place. It will Getchu if you aren't careful that is for sure! If they make something with no memory, that wold be great!

Exactly thats stuff itsnt fit for man nor beast. When it breaks its naps like a twig and you dang near cant tie it back together.

I believe we use the 14ga 4pt American wire from San Antonio steel. Now days they dip it in a green paint and it looks nice.
