while i dont neccesarily agree with the law 100% it is there so some jack leg doesnt shoot a deer with his rifle then stick a arrow in it and say he was bow hunting.

The same type of jack legs that use their kids hunting licence in youth season to get a head start.

It is unlawful to be in possession of a firearm while hunting with a broadhead HUNTING point during the Archery-Only season, except a person licensed to carry a concealed handgun in Texas may carry a concealed handgun.

There's no gray area. Dont be in possession of both during archery season. Period.

If there are two of you in the stand, you are in possession of a bow and he is in possession of a gun you are not breaking the law. You will probably have some explaining to do, and might have to fight a ticket in court... but thats the way all laws are.

I think I will just be hog hunting with both. Bow if they get in close and rifle if they stay to far away.

Well I'm taking both to the blind this weekend BUT I'm not looking to shoot a whitetail at all. Going after axis. White tail get a pass. It's 30 to feeder and anything beyond that gets the ol 30-30

Life is too short to spend any time in court. Let's teach our youth to follow the laws.

Simple concept, except for when laws are vaguely written and it's left up to GW or LEO's interpretation and they don't really know the law either.

I don't think it matters if your on MLDP LVL 3. Otherwise, I would stick to bow only in archery season and not risk it.

It is illegal during bow season. But someone has already posted the law.

Archery and crossbow equipment may not be used to hunt deer during the Muzzleloader-Only Deer Season. It is unlawful to be in possession of a firearm while hunting with a broadhead HUNTING point during the Archery-Only season, except a person licensed to carry a concealed handgun in Texas may carry a concealed handgun. NOTE: A firearm may be possessed in camp, in a motor vehicle, or while hunting lawful game other than whitetail or mule deer and turkey (e.g., exotics, feral hogs, squirrels).

I personally wouldn't take the chance...just shoot the hog with your bow, however I strongly question whether or not this section of regs clearly states that you can not hunt with a gun for hogs because of the way it ends... "NOTE: A firearm may be possessed in camp, in a motor vehicle, or while hunting lawful game other than whitetail or mule deer and turkey (e.g., exotics, feral hogs, squirrels).
