    2012 Bows?

I'm just curious. How much have bows advanced in the last 5 to 7 years? I have not really looked at new bows and shoot a 2005 Alliegance that seems to be just fine. Is it behind the times? Have they advanced enough to justify a new bow? Or have they kind of flatlined with minor advances?

Just got a 2012 Bowtech Insanity, and that was upgrade from my 07. The difference was night and day as far as shooting, smoothness, silence, speed. I dont know the technology differences but **** my new one smokes!

Bows improve every year. Miss a few years and there's a big difference

The 2013's will be coming out pretty soon, you might as well wait a little longer. Even if you don't get a 2013, waiting might help you get a 2012 a little cheaper.

Remeber it? I'm still using it! Wife is making me upgrade because it's "embarassing".

I had a Bowtech Tribute for 4 years i believe it was an 06 model. It was set at 80lbs, the reason i had it set so high was so i could have one pen out to 30 yards. just knocks out all the guessing at my place where 30 yards is about as far as i'm gonna be able to shoot. Last year i got a Bowtech destroyer and it has the same capability to do one pen to 30 yards and its set at 70lbs. But it is much more forgiving and just all around better handling bow. I loved my tribute but once i picked up the destroyer i was hooked. This is just my experience.

The biggest advance I would say is that most bows now have parallel limbs, shorter ATA lengths and the average speeds have increased 20-40 fps. I had a 2005 Hoyt and did buy a 2012 CRX last year not because I needed it or my old bow was behind the times but just because when I shot the CRX at the shop I loved it and just had to treat myself

And that's why I'm asking. I know if I walk in a shop and shoot one I will be walking out about $1400 lighter. Need to know they have improved and not just spending money.

They have improved, but my switchback XT shoots just fine and fast enough with the right arrows. And now I could pick up a backup for a great price. If I was in the market for a new bow at this time of the year, I would wait til 2013's come out and buy the new model or get a better deal on the 2012.

My CRX is quieter, faster and the parallel limbs greatly reduce the hand shock. It was definitely an improvement and is a sweet shooter but as far as saying the advancements were enough to make me need a new bow and that my old one was outdated I would say no. My 2005 Ultramag killed plenty of animals and is still a very accurate, quiet and smooth shooter in it's own right and can still do the job with ease. I will say this, if you are entertaining the idea of a new bow but don't want to spend the money then don't go shoot one of the new models. I did and it's like test driving a sports car. You'll fall in love and break out the wallet before you know it
