    Rifle Scope Question

What power scopes do you have on your deer rifle? And at what distance do you usually shoot.

    #2
Lots of anwers here. 3-9 is probably the most common, I even have an old school 2-7.
I also have a 6.5-20 but that is a lot of scope. I've killed deer with it though.

Average distance is hard to say, some have been in close others out to 300yds. Most guys I know set up their feeder at least 100yds from the blind though.

I have 4x16 Nikon monarchs on my main 3 deers rifles. I don't shoot more than 300 yards but keep my scope on 10 or 12 power mainly. I just like the 16 power for checking out bucks far off in the stand. I think 10 or 12 power is perfect for a deer rifle.

3-9 and I don't have any shots at my set ups over 150 yards.

4x12 for me and I'm pretty good up to 300 yards but shoot most my deer from 100-200 yards. If you can’t practice shooting out to 300 then I wouldn’t even try. I have 2 different 270 and they both do different things at 300 yards so you really need to know what your gun does before you try.

3-9 on my deer rifle, which is a 223. My other rifles are for bigger game or longer range shooting and they are anywhere from 4.5-14 all the way up to 6.5-20.
As for most versitile and all around I would say 3-9 is the best choice for most hunting situations.

                        depending on gun I have
                        3x9
                        4x12
                        4.5x14
                        5.5x22
so the ranges are close to as far as I'm capable

3-9 x 50 on my 308. Typically 150 yard shots at my FIL's place in Comstock. 50mm gathers more light and it seems like the deer are always waiting for very low light before coming in. Gone a few minutes after sunup too.
