    Need Help! Dropzone Noise!!

This is my second try with a dropzone rest, and Dang this thing just has a ring to it!
I shoot a Q2 (Mathews) 30"draw at 64lb dr.wt. and with the micro adjust guide dropzone, WITH all kinds of deadening fibers and stick ons attached to it, IT still has a gawd awful ring. i fully took it apart, replaced the cord, cut the knot,( that by the way hits on the floor when it comes down, Not the O-rings, that are much smaller than the knot!) i cut a cushion in half( the one that goes between a release and the arrow when you clamp a release dirrectly to the string) and put that in place of the O-rings. i also re-tied the the knot differrent so that the knot does not hit the bottom first. basically just burned it to a D-loop style end.
    AAARRRRGGGA
can anyone tell me how to Slayerize this thing!!!
i listen to other (same mfg) bows with DZ's and know something i did is wrong. better but not as quite as i've heard.
just putting stuff on the outside is not gonna make it as quite as it was with the TigerTuff double prong rest that did so well before. this thing is fully incapsulatted in felt and has a neo-pren type bottom. still has Briiinnnggg sound.

it's accurate, just trying to get it quite. this has already cost me 4 arrows or 2 robinhoods or 30 bucks depending on how you look at it!

my wife's drop-zone on her adrenaline (half the poundage) sounds so much better.
something is up between an XT and a Q2 with the DropZONE. and it ain't gonna cost me 650 bucks!!!!
    thanks! Steve

I wrapped the whole thing in duct tape (camo). It no longer functions but it is quiet as hell!

Seriously, I emailed TR and got the new o-ring kit and it quieted mine down alot. All the noise I thought was coming from my drop zone was actually coming from the alpine quiver base that permanently mounts to the bow. I took that off and my ViperTEc is very quiet now.

Steve W, It has been my experience that my bow could be quieter without the Drop zone.
I've done the o-ring upgrade and can still shoot the bow quieter by comparing a bare shaft shot with the rest wedged in the up position (with foam) and a bare shaft shot through the rest normally.

Quiter, yes- enough to matter-not really (but can you ever be too quiet?).
My vital bow gear slider is no help in the matter either. If I can move it with my hand (side to side) it can be a noise maker.

I have considered changing rest & sights before next season.

Do you have the roller guide? I'm wondering about the bus cable hitting the rest? I have a DZ on my Outback and I do not have any noise. I got it off of TBh from someone who said it had a bad noise on thier bow. I'm awfully picky about noise...but this one is just fine.

              no roller guide.
it's not a small sound. i have even switch the rest (TigerTuff) just to make sure of were the sound is comeing from.
              what is the o-ring kit?
there were 2 small o-rings around the shafts that the springs are on, but those are the ones that were so thin that the carrage hit bottom with the knot from the cable and never hit the o-rings.
not trying to get carried away with sound dampening, it just has a loud twang to the shot with it on there. i think i'm going to try a thin rubber pad between the bow and the rest and re-do the center shot to compensate if that helps the noise.

Here is Deerslayer's page to quiet it down like he did it. I rushed through your initial post, but it sounds like you have already kind of done this.

                  thanks Justin,
did everything but the string leach glueing on the base plate. THAT sounds like it will take care of what i'm hearing!!

uh-oh that means i almost think like slayer!! sssshivvvveeerrsss

I would bag it and go with a 'biscuit". I had a trophy taker rest and got rid of it. For hunting purposes it is the best.

The "o-ring kit" will be sent to you via an e-mail request to Trophy Ridge.

All it is is four o-rings. 2 go on the lower portion of each of the shafts.
Sounds like you may already have it?

It's been a while since I Slayerized my DZ. Seems like the little vibration dampner system on the DZ had some metal to metal contact with the screw head that attaches the DZ to the bow. I put some moleskin on the screw head so there would be no chance of noise and then put the vibration dampner thingy in place. Probably not your problem but just thought I would point it out.
