New to Android- need to synch calendars b/t me and iPhone

I'm new to the Android world, after years with iPhone. My wife is still iPhone. One thing we liked about the iPhone calendar was that it was easy to keep up with each other's appointments and such through invites. Now that I'm Android, not so much. I really want this feature back. Any simple way to do it, other than reverting to iPhone?

I believe you can sync it through google calendar and it works fine. Not sure how I did it, but my macbook, android phone, and exchange calendar are all syncing good. I think I used some settings to sync with google calendar.

I've got mine all synced up. But we want to share each other's calendars.
