    Which ATV to buy?

I am going to have about $5000 out the door for an ATV. What are your suggestions?

Depends on the terrain you hunt.
I have a 220 kawasaki bayou that works great for where I hunt, have pulled many a deer out of the thicket with it. Fits in the bed of the truck nice and can still pack other things in the bed like coolers, tools..etc.
If crossing sloughs or climbing hills you will want a 4x4, just watch your arse cause they will flip ya. Figure out what you need and go from there. what is right for one wont be right for the next guy. You dont have to have the biggest on the market to have what suits you best.

Honda....I've used this dealership as leverage in dealing locally. I've not been able to match Southern's price, but have gotten close.

        Here's a Rancher under your $ limit.

          Prairie 360 4x4
Suzuki 400 4x4 (used to be eiger might be king quad now)
          Yamaha as stated above
Honda if you can get one for drive out in your price range

I would also suggest the arctic cat & Polaris offerings, but I'm not too familiar with what they have under 5k mark.

Make sure to be comparing dealer drive out prices when shopping.
SOME (mostly Yamaha in my experience) like to tack on dealer prep fees and such.

          Enjoy the shopping...

I've talked to two different mechanics in our area that like the Yamahas. I personally don't use one, they are not allowed on the ranch. But, if I was looking I would lean towards the Yamaha Kodiak or Big Bear.

Are you dead set on a new one?

I have a good one with a trailer I could sell you for that price.

                PM me if interested.

Honda........ if nothing else because it is the only one still with a chain drive tranny. All I hear is about belts slipping when they get wet on other models

Hondas are bullet proof. I had a Polaris, I will not buy again ever!

I have owned hondas and polaris. I think you can't go wrong w/ either. The hondas are more worry free, but you can't beat the suspension and over toughness of the polaris. The dry weight of polaris is about 100 to 150 lbs more than that of a honda. This makes less agile but a whole lot tougher.
