Who here remembers those string trackers. I used to use them when hunting hogs after getting so tired of hitting hogs and never finding them. I wonder if they are still around? Seems to me that they would be great during rainy weather like this where the blood might be washed away.

String Trackers-remember them?

I still use them almost every time I'm in a stand. I have about 20 rolls stashed back. I've used them for around 35 years and have had very few problems. If you decide to use them, I would recommend you use the Saunders tie on clip for the arrow. Here's a link.
With this clip, you will only have one line to the animal instead of possibly shooting through the animal and having the line slide through the animal as it runs. My hunting buddy, Andy, had a deer run a whole spool out, 833 yards, and we still found the deer with no problems. I wouldn't even consider hunting turkeys or hogs with out using them. Also I highly recommend having new bow hunters use them as there is a lot less chance they will lose the animal.Last edited by Draco; 09-29-2012, 10:50 PM.

I learned not to put it on my arrow while walking to the stand, I remember looking back and seeing that string hung up on some twig 600' back....not fun going back to pick it all up. But it worked fantastic when I did it right. So cool to see that line flying out and following the double string (if you had a pass thru) and seeing your animal at the end of it.
