I was anticipating opening day at my new place in Leakey, cameras are full of nice whitetail, axis and turkeys. But the wife and I are headed out to Ft. Benning Georgia to see our son for family day after 9 weeks of Army Boot Camp. I think he is worth it, he should be able to come home with us the second week of November and we can hit the blinds then. Have fun everyone and be safe.

Thanks everyone. Arrived in Ft. Benning last nite, up this morning ready to do some hugging. I think he is too, he texted us at the hotel at 6:00 am wanting to know if we were up yet. Oh yeah, we are ready to see you son, and he has his platoon leader with him, his parents could not make it from Washington State. So for this weekend we have two soldiers to walk around with and be proud of. Other parents are doing the same. Hooah! Good luck to all those who are in the field, I'll be there in a few weeks.

Awesome day for the family. My parents came watched me graduate from boot camp in the 70's and I have been to both of my sons graduation (1 Marine other Navy). Alot of parental pride in seeing a young man or woman in full dress for the first time.
Thank your Son for serving and enjoy the weekend. Don't seem surprised if he cusses a lil or acts a little older than the last time you saw him, he has been bonding with some of the finest young adults our country has to offer. First thing my sons noticed when they came home from boot camp was how childish all their high school friends seemed to be.
