    How to kill an Alligator...

    TPWD recommends the following:

After an alligator has been caught, the alligator hunter slowly pulls the animal to the edge of his boat or onto the bank. The alligator is then killed by shooting or clubbing in the head with an axe or hatchet.

Pull that gator on up here so's I can whack him wit my hatchet!

Thats how the game wardens had us do it on our youth hunt years ago. Pulled'em to the bank and shot them point blank with a 4/10. I was 13.

A sharp machete works good too!

Why is that an approved method for gators and not deer?

All I know is I'm booking a gator hunt next season and I'm gonna kill it with an axe!

The following scene is familiar to all:
"Boy, thats a great looking deer. Where'd ya kill it?"
"Oh, I killed him down in south Texas, 350 yard shot with a 30.06"
                  or
"Oh, I killed him down in south Texas with my bow. Shot him at 18.7649283 yards"

                  My conversation is gonna be:
"Boy, thats a great looking gator. Where'd ya kill it?"
"Oh, I was down on the coast and smacked that sumbuck in the head with an axe."
