    Check the pollen forecast

There's a lot of talk about opening weekend weather and moon phases. People are adjusting to that, but if you have allergies you need to check the pollen forecast and prepare. Antihistamines need a few days in your system to be effective. You can't just take one Saturday morning and expect relief. I stopped at the store and got OTC antihistamine pills, eye drops and nasal decongestant. Use a neti pot with filtered or distilled water. Wash your hair. Take your clothes off outside and hose them down before you put them in the washer. Wash your bedclothes, especially your pillow cases.
    Good luck out there.

I am dieing right now. I couldn't image it could get any worse. I have been known to hunt with pieces of toilet paper shoved up my nose to catch the drip.

I 'm taking Clairton D right now and have been for the last 7-10 days. Just got through mowing the yard and it was starting to get to me. I hope i'm not jacked up come Saturday.

I double dose on the antihistamine pills for about two weeks prior to the season, especially when the pollen count is high. OTC antihistamine eye drops will keep your eyes from itching so bad you can't see. The neti pot and decongestant spray lets me breathe.

Allegra is the best I have found over the counter. Ragweed kills me this time of year.

For those of you who don't get relief from regular antihystamines, try stacking Zyrtec and Zantac together. I know it doesn't sound like it makes any sense, Zantac is for indigestion/heartburn, but in reality, it is a type of hystamine blocker. If you take those two together, you knock out your entire hystamine system, works wonders for me.

                  Great reminder!

I now use Raw unfiltered LOCAL honey!!!! I have dropped all the "drugs" and just use that when mine act up. Works wonders for me and the decongestants don't jack with my blood pressure.

Another reason I moved from the cedar, I still catch it on the eastside of San Antonio during a north wind but not as bad. Cedar kills me !

I was in Austin on Thursday...Friday my eyes were red and swollen and the nose was on constant drip. I've been on Zyrtec since!

Good reminder.... hunting with a drippy nose...yuk!
