    DirecTv Installation Help

Anyone know an installation technician close to Fredericksburg or Llano? I have all the stuff to get service out here at the lease but can't lock onto a signal. Been trying for 2 hours and I am done, I have no patience for this stuff. I tried google but can't find anyone local.

I don't know anyone in the area but it isn't hard to aim a dish if you have the azimuth and latitude (and a compass). The site below may help. If you have everything hooked up correctly and can figure out the menus you can get azimuth and latitude info from the receiver. Have you got the signal strength meter going so you can hear when you get the signal?

What I do is get the meter going on the TV (turned up loud), set the azimuth, then sweep across the sky in the direction the dish is supposed to be pointed. Move the dish a little then wait a few seconds to see if I hear the beeps. Once you can hear it beeping you can fine tune for a better signal.

    Good luck.

Brother I tried all of that not sure if I have a technical issue with the box or what. I got an initial azimuth reading that was about 11 degrees off and angle that was .5 degrees off what the online tool told me I needed. I swung the dish west a little and got to 6 degrees off where it was supposed to be. After that I could never get the numbers to change no matter how much I moved the dish. Called tech support and got nowhere. The beeps didn't do anything for me as I don't think I ever crossed paths with the signal. It's not worth another two hours of frustration to jack with it, time to call in a pro and sit back with a cold one

Make sure the sat is perfectly straight up and down.

          fify.

I tried Google for help finding a tech. I see why you are frustrated with it. Nothing but sites wanting to sell you something. No technical support.
