Is it a S&G lock? I have a Cannon with a S&G keypad. Had an issue once. Battery seemed good but would not open. Timed out with too many tries to open. I removed the battery, put a fresh now one in, waited an hour and it opened.

It was prolly just a bad battery from factory. I have the silverado 42 gun and my batteries lasted a year do far

Try to replace the battery witha new one. Sargent & Green locks require atleast a battery with 3 yr shelf life out of the package. I figure other brands may do the same.
