Anyone on here work on golf carts

I had my cart at a cart shop to get checked out. He said i need front leaf spring bushings, steering gear box, and (1) tie rod end. Quote was $608. Also to make it a little faster he recommended an altrex 400 amp controller and that quote was $487. Does anyone on here do this kind of work or has anyone done it on their own?

I have done all my own work............except when I was having an electrical issue that I couldn't figure out. I have replaced everything in the front end on mine, put a lift on it, rear springs, rear seat, brakes, etc. It isn't hard if you have any knowledge of how to work on things.

    Where are you located?

BowSlayer is EXTEMELY knowledgable...not to take away from anyone's business here or who might offer help but he can probably walk you through it.

If your going to replace the controller make sure you go ahead and up the size of the wires and go to 48volts if you haven't already...from what BowSlayer says these carts love 48volts with no other mods other than getting bigger wires

markm....i'm in conroe. where do you get all of your parts?

          thanks for all the replies.

the cart is already 48v but the wiring has not been up-sized.

seems like someone on here was making and selling sets of the larger cables for carts....anyone remember seeing that?

          thanks all.

I was going to offer to help you out but you are about 5+ hours from me.

I use to favor Everything Carts but they ****** me off a few weeks back so I will no longer use them. Busted the right front wheel off my cart and they wouldn't sell me just the right spindle.....told me I had to buy a whole new kit.

I finally found out who my my lift kit and called them directly. Great folks and I will use them again and they say that their stuff in made in the USA!!!!! All Sports www.allsportsliftkits.com I haven't validated that their prices are in check with everyone else but like I said they make their stuff here so if it is a few bucks more I will by US made.

Also have done alot of shopping on Ebay. Just have to be careful on the shipping and handling.

I bought my upgraded wires from a guy in Kansas that I found online. Good price and again US made. I can PM you his email if you like. Can't seem to find his website info.

Give me a buzz if you want to discuss anything on the phone. I will put my # in the PM.

Hit up Murdock. He did a lot of his own work on his cart.
