Don't you mean the "bump em down drills"!

It's even worst to sit in the stands and watch them play bumper cars (you see case of it and watch it develop). We need some old school DB's like Michael Griffen to come back and show these kids how to cover and tackle.

Overall, if our only issue is Carrington Byndom need ing to tightien up his coverage, we are doing alright at this point.

As for the Marine, I would yell too if I were an Ol Miss fan! Wait a while and you'll see some of the boys in the brown boots yelling like the real deal pretty soon!

Oh good......I Came on to catch a recap of the game I missed while at the deer lease, only to find our resident lame aggie picture posting guy clogging things up with lame mis-spelleings and and re-hashed pictures.

I'm not sure Goodwin knew exactly what to think about that ol boy, but it looked like he made the right call to "C&D".

Watching the Longhorn Network (#humblebrag) last night they had a segment with Diaz on. He mentioned that he went back to the notes last year after the third game and his number one concern was tackling after the UCLA game. He said they will go back and work on some drills this week to reinforce the steps. He also talked about the Ole Miss scheme and Hicks getting hurt (they had to move some guys around and play them in spots they hadn't practiced) had an impact as well when it comes to gap control. If this defense is on pace to be where it was last year, then I am all for it.

Talking to some buddies that went to the game they said it was insane with the amount of Texas fans making the trip and sounds like both parties had a great time.

I watched some of the pre game stuff and them talking to Diaz. They were doing these tackle drills where they twist, like a gator roll, as they are tackling? Why would you want to twist? I paid attention to that in the game and it looked to me like that's what some of them were doing and that's part of the reason they were missing tackles. What happen to wrapping up and taking them down? I never played organized football so can someone explain to me the twist as you tackle technique?!

He was talking last night that wrapping up is the third thing that needs to happen to tackle somebody. The main thing is you have to have your feet underneath you at the point of contact and this is the main reason that kids are missing tackles is their feet. He said they are going back to work on some drills to make sure they understand the importance of angles and bringing their feet with them at the point of contact.

UT killed Ole Miss but giving up 31 pts has to be concerning, Ole Miss is absolutely terrible. They probably wont get 1 win in the SEC again this year. The game was never in question but just seemed like alot of pts. for a UT defense to give up.

That seems to be the hardest part to teach and get them to understand. Keeping you angle through contact and staying on top of you feet.

Our high school coach always talked about hitting like a rattlesnake. A rattlesnake will get itself into position and then strike with its body underneath it with force instead of just lunging. This always clicked for me when you think about it this way. Controlled, quick, strike.
