Recommend a scope for an AR

My dad bit the bug and got him an AR. He wants to be able to shoot hogs out to 300 yds. But needs to stay within a few hundred dollars...

So you don't trust my input? Just kidding... But seriously

PM arrowsmith. He's got some good prices on vortex scopes right now.

Oh I trust it and we are leaning heavily on what you and I discussed.

Leupold mark AR. The one I shot worked perfectly. Sighted in at 100 the first hash mark was dead on at 300 and second hash mark at 400.

Vortex has a wonderful line of scopes for ARs

Nikons are very nice...but on my AR is a Burris XTR with illuminated reticle. Whatever he gets, make sure you can light it for dark hours shooting. If he doesn't need magnification then just go with a red dot

I love my Nikon P223. Also would look into Vortex with the TBH pricing

Leupold VR-R Patrol 3x9x40. Great glass and solid clicks to adjust your scope.

I personally like the Eotechs and Trijicon Acogs but those are more tactical shooting

Leupold Mark AR, probably right at the top of your budget. I have one and just put it on my AR in July. Still havent really looked through it much, so I cant give a good review.
