Just saw that over 10,000 people get bitten by rattlesnakes every year.. Keep that in mind when your heading out to your stands or working at the ranch or lease. If you see one and dont have a gun, just leave it alone.... Its not worth getting bit and losing a limb or dying... Just dont wanna see anyone get hurt like that.

1 in 500 victims of venomous snake bites actually die. According to the link below. Still that's too many. Snake boots and watching were you put your hands is the best advice I can give. I actually rode by a huge water moccasin on my mountain bike on a trail at lake grapevine today. Missed it by less than two inches and it never moved.

What are my chances of being bitten by a venomous snake in the U.S.?
How many people die each year from venomous snake bites?
The chances of dying from a venomous snakebite in the United States is nearly zero, because we have available, high-quality medical care in the U.S. Fewer than one in 37,500 people are bitten by venomous snakes in the U.S. each year (7-8,000 bites per year), and only one in 50 million people will die from snakebite (5-6 fatalities per year). Did you know that you are nine times more likely to die from being struck by lightning than to die of venomous snakebite? The graph below compares deaths from venomous snakebites to some leading causes of death, lightning strikes and other animal related deaths.

After reading these posts for years, I think many of you are much more likely to die from the sight of a snake than you are from a snakebite.
Also I would rather deal with 20 Rattlers than one sneaky freakin water moccasin!
