? Dove and egg- dove just shot back

I know chickens lay eggs all time but I assumed doves laid eggs "in season" or only certain times of year when having young. Guess I was wrong or at least this one dove just shot back -

Trey and shot a few dove this evening and were cleaning em and I went to thumb one and man an egg shot out and busted on my chest and yellow yolk all down shirt-

    Anyone know?

Pretty sure they can breed all year having multiple clutches...especially in warmer areas.

Yeah 3 a year is what Ive always been told/believed. There's a dove outside my house that is working on her 2nd with the 1st still in the nest.

Read an article just the other day that echos what they ^ said. It varies depending on various factors but usually do 3 clutches a year. They do of course migrate but only twice a year. We have doves around here every year in the yard that I usually see at least two hatches. Cant remember ever seeing 3 in one year though......

I had a egg squirt out of a dove I was cleaning it this year. A first for me.

It was definitely a first for me. Trey laughed at me for getting creamed

I normally have a hundred or so nesting whitewings in my yard in SA and weather permitting they will keep breeding and hatching all summer long.
