    What is the problem with my tires?

    I have a 2009 GMC Sierra 2500 HD 4x4, it has LT245R17 Bridgestone Duradavis (i think that's the name) tires. I am running 60# of air in all of the tires. I have 28,000 miles on it and I don't pull big trailers just a 16' flatbed. The back tires are down to the wear indicators and the front tires look like they have about another 10,000 - 15,000 miles left on them. They are not wearing on the outside or the inside of the tires. I am concerned about the back tires though.

    My question is what pressure do ya'll run in your tires?

    Do you run different pressures in the front tires than you do in the back?

    What can I do to keep the back tires from wearing down so fast?

    I have never rotated the tires since I've had the truck. I bought it with 16,000 miles on it and at that time the tires looked brand new.

    What tires would ya'll recommend me to get? I would like an All Terrain tire (the same size) that is at least 8-10 ply. I do drive around in a lot of fields and brush (lots of hunting and checking traps).

    Well your first problem was not rotating the tires. That is the reason why your back tire wore out quicker than the front. Need to get them swapped every 3 to 5 thousand miles depending on who you talk to.

      I rotate and balance almost as much as I change oil. I run about five lbs. under max PSI in all four tires.

      Not sure why your rear tires are wearing more than the front as its usually the other way around on vehicles that pull trailers frequently.

        I have a 2008 GMC 1500 Sierra with LT265-R17" Goodyear wranglers and only run 35 lbs, which is the recommended pressure. Have you ever looked at the sticker on your driver's side door post? It will tell you the recommended pressure of the tires that came on the truck.

        Not sure about the 3/4 ton, but 60 sounds like too much pressure to me, but if they are a heavier load tire, it may be correct. Breezy is a tire dealer and should be able to help you if you wiull say a good word for Yeti coolers.

          60# sounds about right for a load range E in a 16" rim if thats what youre running. Rotating is step one. Powerbraking and white smoking the tires makes them wear pretty fast lol

            If you haven't been rotating routinely, that could be your problem. Every 5K miles my truck gets an oil change and tire rotation.

              The sticker on the door is saying front tires 60# and the rear tires 80#.

              What tire should I buy for an all terrain tire for driving around in the brush and the fields?

                I'm not familiar with the tires you have now, but for sure you need an E rated tire, and there are two different E rating tires. One maxes out at 65psi and the other maxed at 80psi. I have a Ram2500 Deisel megacab, and am only running 35psi in my rears for comfort. The last set I got 35,000 out of the Nitto Trail Grapplers, the front tires I run at 60psi just because of the weight of the Deisel engine. Rotation is your friend!!!

                  michelin ltx at2. thats what my dad and i both run on our 3/4 ton chevys. super smooth highway ride and decent offroad traction, and load range e.

                    I have an 06 Dodge 2500 4 x 4 diesel. I got 96,600 miles on the set of Michelins that came on it and 100,000 on the second set that were Cooper. I only run E rated 10 ply and rotate about every 7500 miles. The sticker on the door say's with a light load to run 50 psi front and 40 psi rear. With a heavy load run 60 psi front and 70 psi rear. That is what I run in them. I am now on my 3 rd set of tires with 219,000 miles on the truck. Many tire guy's say there is no way I get that kind of mileage but the man I have bought tires from for 14 years will say otherwise. I do mostly highway driving but do pull a trailer several times a month.

                      This is also what i run on my truck 2011 Dodge 3/4 ton 4x4.I'm at alittle over 40,000 miles on them and still look good.I also pull very heavy trailers for a 3/4 ton.Usually pushing close to 30,000lbs. I'm a stickler on rotation and air pressure.Every oil change(5-6000) miles i rotate and i run 85lbs in the back and 80lbs in the front.Don't know that i have ever heard of anyone putting 35lbs in their tires on a Heavy Duty truck.....not if its being used as a heavy duty truck.

                          I Run near the max PSI (this depends on the load range of the tire) and rotate 'em every 6 to 8 grand.

                              I have the tire pressure monitoring system on my truck. When ya'll rotate the tires do ya'll have to reprogram the system everytime so it will know what tire is what?
