anyone kill a rattle snack with bow?

Got home tonight and as I opened my garage door a 4ft rattle snack slithered into my garage, I was able to get him cornered, and boy was he ******. I didn't want to get to close after that. Only reason I got him cornered was because he slide under a shelf, just tall enough to slide a broom handle in so no worry of him striking. But once he was cornered he got into position to strike. No way was I getting within sholves head reach, so I get the bow, put in a broadhead and ready to shoot, but then I thought I really don't want this mess in my garage, I would have to move ALOT of stuff to get the mess all cleaned up, plus I wouldn't want it sitting there all night so I would be up late doing it. Called animal control and they came and got it in about 15 minutes. With all this said, has anyone killed a snake with a bow? And if so just how much of a mess does it make, just in case I get another chance.

A lot easier with a .22 or small cal revolver with rat shot, in your situation. A garage with concrete floors close up, that arrow will go crazy. Rat shot up close, aim, turn head, and squeeze!!

I ran into a sleeping rattler on a trail on Lake Georgetown awhile back. It was 4:30 AM. I did A one foot high jump over it. Killed it with rocks.

Coming back that morning, I found an big oak I wanted to hunt that afternoon. Danged if I didin;t see a 4 footer stretchd out under the tree. I did shoot him with my bow. No mess.

Please tell me you didn't just admit on TBH to calling animal control for a rattle snake in your garage.

The best I have done are a couple of Copperheads and Water Moccasins…

I found out that if you wave a nice, pointed, really sharp, fixed broad head in front of the snake they strike it… HARD!! I dropped the arrow the first time or two. When they hit the broad head it usually slices their head all the way back to the eyes. They don’t want to strike a second time after that… LOL

Whether it makes a mess or not depends on where you hit him. Gut shoot him & he's just finished a meal of young jackrabbit and you are gonna have a stinky situation. Go for a head shot, but like Centraltexan said, - .22 with rat shot is a lot easier & cleaner.

wow defiantly some interesting responses. anyone my believe it or not my wife called animal control she didn't want the mess. if i was actually able to shoot it, i probably would have sliced him in a few pieces just because he was all wound up ready to stick and was under a container, so i only have a 5" window to hit, so I would have hit him for sure, just probably got him into a few pieces, but it's cool, it was a learning expierence that is for sure, and everyone thinks only one man can walk on water, well show me a snake and i'll show you another, lol. oh well hope ya'll have a good night

bone collector, hope you didn't choke to bad, lol
