    tree saddle setup help

I bought a new to me tree saddle and the instructions aren't very clear and the pictures are awful. The problem I am having is with the attachment to the tree. I think I am supposed to wrap the strap twice around the tree then do a single overhand knot. Is that correct?

From here, the tree strap would make a loop and my saddle would make a loop and they would interconnect. Is this correct?

I am practicing at ground level for now.

The website has instructional videos on the proper tie off methods.
Also read John E.'s description of how he does it which is a bit different from the 'official' way.
The A.T. website has a bunch of people who use the saddle and I just sold one today off of there.
They are a hoot to use but there are better, cheaper and more comfortable types out there to use.
The main thing is PRACTICE and kneepads! But they are effective tools in a deer hunters arsenal.

What you described sounds right. You have the right idea doing dry runs at the ground.

        x2 on the knee pads...

I bought a cheap pair of athletic knee pads and wear them under my britches.

Apparently I was attaching to the wrong strap on the saddle. I put it on correct, but once you get into the tree you loosen the waist belt and attach the waist belt to the tree strap and not the linesmans (safety) belt.

Dangerous Dan is a wizard in those things. Might PM him and see if he has some knowledge to pass on that might be helpful!
