I'm a rage fan. I've been shooting them for about 4 years and have never, not one time, had a problem or "failure". I put them in some bad places before, including big shoulders on large animals like oryx and Pierre David. I would try them both and see what you think. Another good head that I like and is pretty tough is the jackhammer. The 1 1/4 cut is a very solid head and opens a good hole.

Durability has to go to the Reapers. I shoot Spitfires which are dang near the same thing. Tried Rages for a year. Shot a lot of stuff with them until I had one bad experience. Now I shoot 1 3/4" Spitfires and have never looked back.
Rages are not a durable head. Plan on shooting them one time.

I'll keep rockin on along with them, the truck loads of animals I've seen killed by them is good enough for me. I've dang sure never had a problem with them not opening. I have hell with them in a quiver, but not opening has never an issue. Looks like you got your deer though, I'll take that result every time I drop the string.

I'm sure one of these days something tragic will happen and I'll change broadheads. Ive just gotten spoiled by the blood trails that they leave and the flight they maintain at longer distances. I don't only shoot them though, I love my jackhammers just as much. I also rarely leave home without a slicktrick in the quiver.

I had mentioned wanting to try some Reapers last year around Christmas and my wife bought me a pack. I took them out of the package the other day to put them in my quiver. My plan is to shoot a couple hogs with them to see how they do. I threw one in the trash right out of the package as one of the blades wouldnt stay closed. Not sure why, as the other two close up nice and tight.
