    dove hunting help

    ok i got a free dove hunt for two days out in waller. a coworkers grandpa has some land that he farms and gave me permission. well i have to go during the week so im trying to find some hlpe as to whats the best weather for doves so i can try to plan it. should i do it fir this week or try to wait for the cool front to push through or what.

    Shouldn't matter. The birds left our fields in Monaville before opening day. We had thousands of birds, and opening weekend was a bust. Unless this front yesterday blew in a bunch of birds I wouldn't expect too much.

      if i just get out there and get to shoot a handful of times. its better than sitting at work. or just being out there watching the sun rise and set. but thanks for the info sorry yall had bad luck

        You want dry weather wind or no wind. The cool fronts will push out the big numbers of birds but will also bring in new birds. Get there at sun up, look for early flight patterns and get in that flight zone. For whatever reason birds will fly the same patterns.
        If it has been house with no rain the birds will hit the ponds in the evening. Birds will start working back into the fields in the afternoon around 3pm to 5pm. Good luck.
