    Rant Sorry All!!!

    Here is the short version:

My son had worked for a local farmer (friend) for the summer so he could buy a crossbow and a video game for himself. He worked long, and hard during the summer building a barn, loading and stacking hay, cutting lawn and general labor for the most part, anyway, I get a call from this "friend" today and he says he can not pay my son because he has no money. This to me is BS it was under the agreement that when Friend gets paid, my son would get paid, he worked for almost 2 months with no pay and now he gets none at all.

I also helped this fella under the agreement that he would plant a small food plot for me and get a axis doe or two for freezer meat, well this is also not happening.

I am not worried about my part of the deal but when a grown adult who you thought was your "friend" screws over your 12 year old son, who worked his butt off, this chapps my backside, I gave him my 2 cents worth, and what my oppinion was of him NOW but it will go NO WHERE.

I will take care of my son and what he wanted to do and get this taken care of.

Sorry for the Rant all. Lesson from this is be careful who you think is your friend.

That's just not right! It's a shame that someone would do this to anyone especially a kid. Props to your son for busting his tail though!

I hope this never happens with me. I believe you have every right to be upset. Whatever affects me is ok, but when it affects the kids it's out of line, especially if he's an adult with his own kids. Reciprocate the situation and see how it feels

That's easy!! He needs to sell something or you can sue, turn him for tax fraud, labor laws and child labor laws. He is obligated by law to pay your son, and he is also obligated as a person to do the right thing.... I'd tell him he has got 30 days

Man, that's sorry. Kudos to your 12yr old for working all summer to earn him some spending money! Not very many kids his age would do that. I would've had to give him a piece of my mind if that were my kid. People continue to amaze me everyday.

I would be looking at what he owned that I could sell. Probably wouldnt be very diplomatic about it either when I pulled up with a trailer to start loading stuff.

That's as low as you can go in my book, young people learning to work for what they want is our future. I would definitely be PO'd as I am sure you are....

With the positive life learning experiences come the negative ones as well, this is a great opportunity to teach your son to deal with a negative situation with integrity.

My 11 year old daughter worked all summer baby sitting here and there for some of our friends to earn money for something she wanted. I was very proud of her, I would be feeling the same way as you if she didn't get paid by what is considered to be friends.

Dang Kevin that's a pretty messed up thing this "friend" did. So he doesn't plan on making it right?

send the "friend" a certified letter with return receipt demanding he pay your son in 30 days

if no pmt, then you will pursue legal action through the local DA or retain counsel

go to the labor b oard requesting a lean on his property until he pays your son in full

go to the local TV station and ask them to do a story about this lowlife

mention in the letter what Ray posted above .... child labor laws, tax fraud, you will be contacting the IRS
