    "No Easy Day" Book Review

I went ahead and bought "No Easy Day" the day it hit stores because I was convinced that the DOD was going to attempt to suppress it and have it removed from the shelves.

The author makes a full disclosure about what is used for information in the book, discloses the use of attorneys who made sure there was no information that would compromise past, or future missions, operators or families of operators.

To me it's a tasteful, humble account of one mans journeys through a decade of difficult theatre's rife with what appears to be "normal" bureaucratic B/S and stumbling blocks. And more than anything a homage to the thankless work these folks do behind the scenes everyday.

If you're looking for a long term project, this isn't your book, this is a fast paced, "down and dirty" account of several interesting stories from a career spent as the elite of the elite. It tops out at 208 pages (on my Nook Color) and reads very quickly.

However, I gre up in a home with a father who was former Special Forces, and I have been intrigued and read anything I can about the lives of these folks. So for me it is always fulfilling to see someone be willing to come ouot from the shadows, and shine some light on a very secretive world, and to do it humbly to boot.

I say it's a fantastic read, and should make anyone proud, this man appears to give all the credit to the Teams, rather than self. And his respect to the cause rather than patting himself on the back.

It gets the full two thumbs up from me

    Hope this helps!!

I downloaded it onto my Nook. If I had bought the hardcover I could have sent it to you when I was finished.

That's what I did with "Lone Survivor" I gave it to a guy, and told him to pass it on when he as finished.

I think he needs to keep his mouth shut.

That isn't an uncommon sentiment. However, now that he has written a book, I have to say it's a good one.

Lone Survivor is greatness, I have it. I'm a huge fan of military books. Do you have the Memoirs of **** Winters (might be the wrong title)? Absolutely amazing.

^^^are you serious? Lol, Richard "****" Winters.

I haven't read that one. "Black Berets and Painted Faces" by Gary Linderer was a good one. A first hand account of the development of the LRRP teams in Vietnam. My father was a Green Beret in Vietnam who was supposed to transition into Long Range Recon before he finally left country.

And because he's the type who never spoke a word about almost five years of Special Forces work there, I have read incessantly to try and gain perspective. His outlook on life now is very interesting.

I read it the day it came out. It is a good read. I am sure there are parts the head shed would consider classified but, other than the first person description of the actual assult, I didn't read anything I haven't read elsewhere or seen on TV.

Agreed, he's actually very "matter of factly" about his endeavours.

And technically he's nowhere near the first individual of his status to break the silence.

And he's using some of the earnings to support vets in need.

It's anything but. It's almost as if he's just talking to a buddy. Not an ounce of braggert that I can see.

He also pays a lot of respect to the Delta Teams as well.

my dad read this book and sent it to me to read. I started reading it Wednesday night and got off early yesterday and really got into it. I am over half way thru and I just don't want to put it down.

If you like "No Easy Day" be sure and read "Lone Survivor" and Marcus has another book out that I will be getting shortly to read, I hear it is good too!

Now I have to find a copy of the original "Rogue Warrior" to read.
