I have 3 students who do not have major projects for this year and every road they turn down seems to be a dead end. These students are in my Practicum Ag. Mechanics Class. This means they are seniors and this will be their fourth year in our program. Their skill level and craftsmanship is superb. They have seen what it takes to be competitive at major livestock shows and want to go out with a bang their senior year. They have already built smaller utility trailers and a goosneck trailer last year along with many other smaller projects. What they are looking for this year is a large GN trailer or other large metal project. They want to put their skills to the test and build something that will take them more than a few weeks to complete. As their teacher I can assure you they are perfectly capable of doing this as it is Friday evening and they are currently in the shop working. These are not your average students. These kids represent themselves and our school very well with the work they perform. If any of you know a prospective customer in need of a large gooseneck trailer for them to build please let me know. They are chomping at the bit for a chance to test their skills. They have already worked a bill of materials together on a 30'+5' to give you an idea of what the materials would costs. Please feel free to email me at jtempleton@csisd.org or pm.
We are still willing to take on smaller projects with the sophomores and juniors. However, we have almost filled our project needs in that area. We require all customers to pay for their materials or provide them and a shop fee for consumables as well as covering entry fees.
Thanks!
