Pitbulls fenced and abandoned...what to do?????

About a week ago i noticed a moving truck (sign on truck) backed in my neigbor's drive way. Since then it seems like they have moved. Everytime i go outside as usual 2 pitbulls that they own bark at my noise. I usually talk to them an they recognize my voice, and settle down. I kind of liked that they only barked at noise, and i considered it a good warning system for me.

The 2 pitbulls in the last 2 days don't bark as usuual but they are still there. I banged on the fence for awhile this morning, and finally got one to bark..some. I am afraid that they might not be getting water or food and weakening. I have banged on the neigbors door and nothing several times to make sure before i called somebody. I finally called SPCA only to be told that they were completly full????, for me to call the dog pound??

They suggested for me to jump the fence to check on the dogs (a 6' cedar privacy fence). They are nuts. At my age i cannot and will not jump a fence that i will most likely not be able to jump back over....specially with pit bulls on the other side of the fence.

Anybody have any advice. I DO NOT care what breed of dogs they are, no dog deserves that.

put a water hose over the fence and turn it on..see if they come drink...if so, then pour some food over the fence....maybe do this while on a ladder so the dogs can see you and know who's feeding them....

Run your garden hose through the fence & at least give them a drink. I hate when people do that.

Maybe try calling the local police. They can come check on the condition of the dogs. No dog should starve or die of thirst.

Call Houston BARC. It is the ONLY no-kill shelter in Houston and they do take pit bulls..

I wouldn't automatically assume they abandoned them. When my neighbors moved to their new house they left their dogs in the backyard for a couple of weeks (coming over at night to feed and water them) until they got their new house/yard ready for the dogs.

Water hose and food man. The least you could do.

Those people need to go with out water and food for a few days!

call the police and tell them you suspect illegal activity in the back yard.

I agree...if you can get food and water to them do it. And if they appear to be neglected/starving take pictures of the dogs and make notes of when you last saw the neighbors there and all calls you have made to get help. Then keep calling animal control, police, spca, anyone...until someone comes to help these dogs. Not a fan of pits..but like others have said..no dog deserves to be abandoned to starve to death or die of dehydration. Good luck to you!

Take one of the pickets off the fence and slide some food n water in there to them, leave a note on the door of the house to explain your concern and your plan of action, if no response, start taking action

OK Folks i have put a water hose over the fence with water on. I have also thrown some food over as well but i do not see them coming to it, it has been a while.

I called Barc and they only service Houston residents defined as people living within the city limits and paying a water bill???? they give other places to call if you are not a resident but i get no results other than leave a message...i did.

I have been told that if i call the police, they might get the dog pound to come...BUT they would put them to sleep.....I DO NOT want that.

The set up is that there is a garage door facing my fence, and i can see into the garage a little bid. I tried looking over the fence, and i think that they are holed up in the garage as usual. I used to hear them hurry out from within the garage barking while they were still in the garge and kept on barking after they were out by the fence when they would hear me. I hollered at them while looking into the garage, and one of them barks...not as strong a bark as usual.

Folks i am fearing the worst for this 2 defenseless dogs. It really hurts to see this...i hope that i am not over reacting.
