Need a motor rebuilt in B/CS

My mother-in-laws motor blew up last weekend in her 2006 Ford Taurus. I am thinking it spun a bearing or something along those lines as the check low oil light came on right before the motor just stopped working. Last I heard it turns over but not starting.

Is there anyone here on the green screen who is a mechanic or knows a good place to have the motor either rebuilt or a used motor out of a wrecked car. The person who towed it said he could install a used motor with a warranty for $1800. Is this a fair price? I have never priced motors for a Ford Taurus.

What says the all knowing green screen

have you checked the oil? if so, full it at the right level? what color?...if the oil pressure sensor goes bad, the light will come on, then kills the engine....

Just my opinion but if $1800 is with parts and labor and the motor doesn't have a ton of miles that sounds pretty good to me

You can get a comparison price from Make-A-Way Automotive (Drillers Dr.- behind Gooseneck Trailer) 979-778-4680. When you talk to Tex or Jeff, tell them Tracey recommended them.

They are some of the few, honest folks in the business. They ALWAYS treat me right.
