If you are trying to build a forge the regular fireplace firebrick (only good to about 800 degrees) doesn't have a high enough temperature rating. Be prepared. The high temp bricks aren't cheap. I sell them for $5 each. In your area you might try Williams and Davis Boiler in Hutchins. That's the closest I can think of to you.

Thanks. I am trying to get a forge built to work on a few knives since I was layed off in July. Been working with the guy I have been buying knives from for awhile. He is helping me alot but this is the last piece of the puzzle I need to get started.
How hot are you needing to heat up your metal? Google Texas Farrier Supply it's right outside of FTW and you can get a single burner forge for a couple hundred bucks that will last you a lifetime. It's made by NC tool and it's called a "whispering baby"
