Any idea how to get water to food plots??

I am thinking of renting some type of piece of equipment to spray water on my plots so that they don't scorch over the rest of this week. Has anyone else ever done this and has it done any good? I planted last week because of the coming rains from Isaac and then we didn't get much rain and now we have triple digit heat again. Don't want to lose my investment. Thanks

Oh and by the way the triple digit heat was not in the forecast when I did this.

How big is your food plot? It takes a lot of water to maintain.

Short answer is no. You just have to hope the seed doesn't germinate until you get some consistent rain. If you force germination with artificial watering you better be prepared to water a LOT to get the seedlings to the point that they have enough root to sustain themselves.

Total 2.5 acres a 1.25 acre plot, .75 acre, and a half acre plot

I know we have a 30% chance of rain Saturday but that's not much of a chance.

If you have a water source nearby this might be an option. It would be laber intensive though.

Spraying with anything not connected to a water sourc would be too time consuming and expensive.

By my calculation to haul enough water to simulate a 1" rain will take around 70,000 gallons. You sure you really want to do that?

You are gonna have to drink a lot of beer to water 2.5 acres.

                              Seriously, do the math.

                              2.5 acres 1" deep

                              43,560 X 2.5 = 108,900 sq ft.

108,900 / 12 (to get cubic feet) is 9075 cubic feet of water.

                              9075 cubic feet X 7.48 gallons per cubic foot = 67,881 gallons

And that's just to water ONCE.
