    Concrete Help

I am thinking about pouring a slab in an area where we once had a wooden deck. The area would be 12'7" x 12' x 4". How much concrete would I need? Not sure how to calculate it, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, what is the going rate for concrete to be poured?

Use our free concrete calculator to find how many bags, yards, or meters you need. Just enter length, width & thickness. Trusted by 2.2M+ in 2024.

    Running about $125/yard, I believe.

You're looking at about 2 yards of concrete.

edit: Ouch that is a cook link!

General rule is 1 yard will cover 9'x9'x4". Always get a little more than you calculate and have a place to put it. It's easier and cheaper to get rid of 1/2 yard than it is to call and order another 1/2.

Here in DFW it would cost you 1250.00 to have that poured, maybe more depending on excavation and if you needed beams or footings. Most contractors have a 4 yard minimum which is 320 square feet at 4 inches thick, you have about 150 so they would back out the cost of two yards of concrete, i.e.., 320 feet at 4.50 per foot = 1440.00 , less two yards of concrete @ 110.00 per yard = 1220.00. This would be a good price for a turn key job.
