    Where to Buy Tarred Line?

I'm looking for the black tar covered line that is used for trot or throw lines. I've looked at Academy, Basspro, & Home Depot with no luck. Any other ideas on places to look?

    Thanks,
    Brandon

I bought some at Walmart but that was a couple of years ago. You might want to check some local mom & pop bait stores or a local fisshing supply store.

I can check Wally world first. I haven't bought any in a while, but when I did I thought I picked it up at Academy.

Where are you located BrandonH? Looking for the green bonded or black tarred?

I'm in Pearland (south of Houston). I'm looking for the black tarred.

I'm in the rope & twine business in Houston. I will see if I can locate something for you.

Looks like bass pro carries it. Saw it on their website. "Mariner" brand.

I'm at Basspro now...this is all they have. I may have to go online.

I've bought it many times at Wally World.

What is the reason for using it? Does the tar repel water and keep your line from rotting?
If it's really tar, I'm surprised such a thing is legal.

Can you locate some 3/8" tarred line? We use it here at the fish hatchery but our supplier quit carrying it and we haven't been able to find another source.

It's my understanding that it makes it abrasion resistant...I'm just going by what I've been told.

I am gonna try another Wally world by the house and an Ace hardware.

I've hit 3 Academy's with no luck. So far the only place I've found it was Fishing Tackle Unlimited, but they didn't have the size I wanted.
