Another TV question

I hooked up dads TV today, and it found like 20 channels, local channels, without using dish. I have not seen this before, as we have always watched our locals on dish. There is not an external antenna hooked up to the tv. Just the dish. Do new tvs have an internal antenna? The reason i am asking, i am getting the deer camp ready and was just gonna carry an old tv down there, and set up an extra dish and carry the box from home when i went to stay. If i can get local channels just using a tv with no antenna, thats what i will do, the big games are usually on local anyway. Anybody know if this will work, if so what feature do i need to look for in a tv?

I can't remember off the top of my head but I think it's an atsc?? tuner. Just hook up to a regular antenna and you'll get about 20 stations in high def

I wasnt hooked up to an antenna! or does the dish work as one? Come to think of it iI have an antenna if i need one.
