    Deer blind window question...

I have some 3/8 inch plexiglass I am going to use for my deer blind build. Should the windows fold up or should they fold down. I'm thinking down that way I won't have to worry about it falling down while I'm about to shoot. Any suggestions?

Down is always a good choice. Just add small peice of carpet agains blind where the window will rest incase wind bumps it against blind. Or if you happen to bump it

If they fold up, you have to worry about something to hold them up. Swing down and gravity works.

        Make them sliders!

        Use this as your rails...

        Lattice Rail Caps

Just need one for bottom and one for top. They work GREAT!

I always have mine swing up. That way they are out of my way. With the thick plexiglass, you can drill a small hole without it cracking. Then use the string used for duck decoys. Tie a washer on the other end and attach to a small J hook or something similar that is screwed into the stand near the top.

They have a double slotted version that I have found is easier in attaching to a blind wall.

With them being a Vinyl/Poly they dont swell or make alot of noise when you are opening the windows.

Dont flip them down. Flip them up. If you are on the ground level with the deer, then picture them looking at the plexi. As you open them down, you are going to give them a 90degree angle of the blue sky. They will freak cause it is a bright glare. Even if they are not looking at you they will see it. Opening up will not cause a glare. I promise, it makes a difference. I have flipped all mine at the ranch a few years back cause you could only open them when deer were looking dead away. Now i can open them with deer stairing st them.

                Hope this helps.

I'm with pojay. We may be in the minority on this but for a bow blind I like sliders.

I flip mine up. I have a small shelf under my windows,to put binoculars, cold beverages,
                        and lean forward on.etc.
I use a swivel type holder,to keep it in place when it's folded up.
Don't know which is best, but this works for me.

I flip up. It also makes a good sun shade. Tinted of course

With the sliders I find they get to dirty and make to much noise after a while. Not smooth. THe string and washer is quiet and you can adjust it easier. JMO

I would use the deer view windows but my brother in law gave me this stuff for free. Thanks for the advice everyone, I think I'll flip them up.
