Are we still having server issues???

While clearly, recent activities by some were the catalyst for instituting this, the time limit rule has been discussed for a while because most of the forum clutter (i.e post padding, girilie pic posting, arguing or personal communication) would clearly be curtailed by implementing such. No reason to take it personally as pretty much everyone is guilty of doing this stuff…. myself included. However, as forum growth continues, so does the harm of such clutter and the need for more moderation. The three minute time limit is one possible solution to ease the need for constant moderation.

As for the server issues, I can only apologize and add that I have them frequently as well. I hope they'll be worked out soon.

For about a month I didn't get any of the errors, and then yesterday they started back up. Today, so far so good.

I too, like Smart, want to apologize for the 3 minute rule going into effect......God forbid, "The Around the Campfire" section be used as a place where 4 friends post on an open website about their HUNTING trip this weekend. I had no idea that a particular thread was so harmful to the value of this site. I seem to remember a few long time TBH members and mods that said....If you don't like a thread.....DON'T click on it. I do that all the time. Again, I'm sorry, and I'm more sorry that 4 members who are friends, only because they met on TBH, and now hunt together because of TBH, can't enjoy a website that they ALL like being a part of; because the powers that be, don't like their good natured, unharmful, jokes and jabs toward each other AROUND THE CAMPFIRE.

By all means, let's carry on with more valuable threads like, "Making Cheese," "Superbowl Party Pics," and the ever valuable, "TBH sticker siting in Nowhere, Tx."

I think what the powers that be are getting at here (and I could be wrong), is that maybe those 4 pages of content would be better utilized AFTER the hunt......and jammed full of LDPs, food ****, random sunsets, beer can pyramids, stories, practical jokes and crap like that. But that's just my opinion...

Just an attempt at constructive criticism (for lack of a better term), because you're all big boys and I don't expect any of you will get any hurt feelings over the deal.


Cantex, it's been a while since I was in high school, so maybe I'm missing your meaning here. Not sure about any emails being forwarded......just a joke from the by-gone days of "clique" accusations. At least I thought they were "by-gone". There are no black helicopters........

NO feelings hurt here, and I understand...... there will also be pages full of that kind of stuff after the trip. If the thread would have been locked, I would understand....but totally deleted? It's no big deal, we will have plenty of pics, videos, and stories to come!!

I think as this green monster continues to grow, it has become neccesary to "trim the fat" so to speak, and focus on the meat of the deal.........that's all.

I look forward to the pics/stories/videos from this hoorah myself, as I think most do. Just not so much the planning/smack/other stuff. Again, just my interpretation(I didn't read past the 1st couple of posts on the thread in question, so I'm kinda flyin in the dark here).

Not that I am complaining because it's free and I love it...but I have been getting the forbidden screen of death a lot, and images/avatars are not showing up...thanks for looking at it, hope we can fix it...

if space is an issue lets take up a "collection" to upgrade the server...I would be willing to donate...

I set the minimum time between posts to 3 minutes. We've had guys nearing 90 posts a day, most of which have added little value and were only directed to a select few that wanted to use the forum as their personal communication device.

I might, at some point, reverse this. For now, we'll see how things go. If nothing else, this will make people think before they post.
