Any RV A/C guys out there?

Have a 39' toy hauler with a Dometic Duotherm rooftop A/C with a wall manual thermostat that doesn't operate. My separate rear A/C works fine. Front will not do anything. No fan or compressor at all. Fuses and breakers are fine. Don't have a 50amp plug where its parked at yet. Have ran it off of generator before and 50amp cord at an RV park. I can't be positive that it wasn't tried with a 15amp adapter and extension cord. Could the contacts and/or capacitor be bad? I could pick them up before going back just in case if they aren't too expensive. The last time I was there I tried to run it from the generator and got an audible click and then nothing at all. BTW it has been left at a deer lease near Jasper for 3 months 180 miles away in the woods. No animal damage or anything to unit though. My only test equipment is an old Simpson model 260. Right now I'm like an old mule looking at a new gate.

Not an RV guy, but I dabble in A/C. It could be a the run capacitors or the contactor. An audible click sounds like the contactor being energized.

I do a visual inspection of the unit, looking for burnt wiring, corrosion, etc.
Verify power to the unit. IE at the contactor.
Call for cool, checking for control voltage to the unit.

The Simpson 260 is a good unit, I just removed them from my classroom as we are now fully digital.

Thanks Budda. My lease is near Jasper and I'm in Alvin. Needless to say, its a chore getting out there to look at it. Would you take a capacitor and contacts just in case? If there is an A/C place in Jasper I could get them there I guess if needed.

If you are not using an adapter that is specific for a 30 to 50 conversion, you may not be getting power to one side of your main breaker panel in the trailer.

A 50 amp plug is a 2 pole set up and if you are not feeding power to both sides of the little panel then this is probably your problem.

Also a regular 30 amp plug will probably not run both AC units at the same time without tripping the 30 amp breaker.

Make sure the fan turns free on the roof. After mine sits for a few months i have to get up there and turn it by hand to get it to start. It gets corrosion on the armature or something and wont start

Take the caps and the contactor, they are cheap enough and may be the cause of the problem.

This was a problem with a buddy's a/c at the lease. His was actually dirtdobbers. Said he has to go through it just about every season. Breaks loose all of the dried mud and it fires up and cools like a champ!

Thanks all. Going back in 2 weeks. Will look into it further. Of course I have to put up a new blind and feeder for my B-I-L, fill all the other 6 feeders, replace a timer, and drive some anchors. Plus any little jobs that pop up.
