Hendo out for Jones fight - UFC scraps entire card

Hendo tore his MCL hes out.
White tried to stick Sonnen in with 8 days notice.. Jones refused citing his trainer (greg jackson) saying fighting sonnen with 8 days notice would be the biggest mistake of his career.
White furious..and apparently with no respect for the rest of the card...scrapped the whole thing.
Now Jones is on the next card in Sept...fighting Machida...again...

I see jacksons point..no time to train to the opponent...but ...youre a fighter.. theres nothing new about Sonnens game to prepare for... its not like you see a different jones with every fight..he does the same thing with every fighter.
but..again..i understand.

Dana White said when he called Sonnen to ask if he wanted the fight he said he'd fight Jones that day, for free Can't blame Jones completely though. Sonnen has a way of stifling peoples game and on this short of notice the champ earned his right to say no. The Dana is ****** tho.

hes also a bit ticked jones signed a deal with nike.. when he was the poster boy for the ufc clothing line...

which kind of weird.. because zuffa makes them sign a perpetual contract that gives zuffa control of their likeness forever... literally...forever...
Thats been a big issue with a bunch of fighters (and managers in the past)..wondering if thats been lightened up on.. ?

I know the likeness agreement was a big deal with the video game. I think Fitch was one of the guys that caused a fuss over it. The Nike deal should be good for the UFC/Zuffa in general. Just like GSP with under armour and silva with burger king, whatever helps put the sport in front of more potential consumers.

I'm sad..because i love watching Hendo fight...win or lose..and we wont get many more chances of that.

oh and watching machida fight ..irritates me... his style just drives me crazy.. its effective for him (most of the time), but isnt fun for me to watch.

I'm so glad jones declined the match. In my opinion Sonnen hasn't earned the title shot yet. Last I checked, you won a fight to get a title contention spot. Sonnen lost his last fight and didn't even make it out the first round, in a different weight class no less. I think Dana was just trying to cash in on the beef between the two. I also feel they could have found a better contender than machida but oh well.

who cares Sonnen vs Jones would be an awesome fight and I think Sonnen could win. Sonnen is a great athelete and has lots of heart..the match with Silva was so lame. I think Sonnen thought he could win be disqualification and then got rocked while playing it out. Shouldnt Jones be ready to fight? He was still scheduled to fight reguardless. They are scared of Sonnen...i dont blame them.

If you like or dislike Jones choice listen to the espn call from Sonnen. He makes a good point and none of the acting in the conversation. Jones is the champ and he should act like it. He is actually taking alot of money out of other fighters pockets. And as Sonnen put it, if your a fighter your a fighter, when has anyone else had 8 days to prep for a fight let alone 90 days. If your the champ then at least show up and THEN you can say you lost due to short notice. Sonnen makes the most honest statement with ESPN and says He can beat Jones and Jones can bet him. Its a fighter chance. He should have taken the fight win lose or draw.

Chicken Bones Jones! The Champ just lost the few fans that did like him. What a chicken chit move. You step up and fight who ever they put in front of you, you're the Champ right? You should be willing to fight anyone, anytime, anywhere. He just screwed over a lot of people. Arrogant *******! I hope Machida beats the tar out of him and I honestly think he needs to sit for a while and think about how his decision affected thousands of people. What a joke!!!
