So, Is Lance a cheat?

Just imagine the stink that would arise if the NFL or NBA were tested for doping.

I competed against Lance in my first race just after he won his first tour. He was down to Earth and took time to talk with fans... unlike a lot of other atheletes.

After so many negative tests, what else can they use against him but heresay? I remember olympic atheletes being disqualified for taking certain brands of cough medicine. Back in the early days aphetamines and alcohol were common which is whwere the term "doping" came from. Now some guys even transfuse with calf's blood for higher red blood cell capacity. Who thinks up this stuff? Oh yeah... our medical researchers.

Who knows if he did or didn't? It doesn't really matter since the tests have all been negative or at the worst inconclusive. BTW they take 2 samples each time and only one is to be used for any punitive action. The second is to be annonimous and held for research only. Never Never Ever to be used against the athelete who provided it.

I have read some stuff that is very troubling... sent to me by a ex-phys PhD buddy who knows this stuff intimately... I'll share if I find it or if I can get him to re-send it to me.

the USADA has no authority to strip him of the titles, they are only recommending the powers that be to do so.

What would be gained by proving with out a doubt that he was on whatever they are claiming? Someone feeling better about themselves? They aren't going to single handed clean up Cycling or stop athletes from trying.

In my opinion this will simply tarnish the name of a single person and make it harder for that person to provide assistance to people dealing with the effects of cancer.

My real question is why are tax dollars being spent to prosecute a retired athlete?

All these that are calling him a cheat, where is your proof just like where is the proof the USADA has? I imagine that some of us would fail the same drug tests Lance took and passed 500 times because of some of the medications and over the counter drugs we take.

Why are people blaming the French? Its the U.S.ada so where's the French connection? And seriously, 500 passed tests. Come-on, are u really that bitter that you have to keep hounding the guy? At this point, any failure would have to be suspect because I think the USADA has called into question their ethical credibility. They have made their decision, so why would he stand before them and defend himself? And how does the UNITED STATES antidoping agency have any authority to strip away titles of the tour de FRANCE?

This is pure jealously on the USADA as he ahs never failed a drug test and has taken over 500 of them with no failures. Pure crap in my opinion by the USADA.

Lance is the most tested athlete in the history of sports period. He never failed a drug test and this has all been a witch hunt in the making.
If you try a person in court enough times eventually you will find a jury to convict no matter how innocent they are

Yup, and that's exactly what the European media wants. The French are still upset that the all time greatest rider isn't a Frenchman.

Maybe they saved samples from Lances racing days and have tested them with the new methods and got the goods on him.

Samples from the Olympics are now being held for 7 or 8 years to be retested as new cheating methods are discovered.

It''s a good idea but what are they gonna do, throw out the top 7 finishers and give the medal to a guy who didn't break 10.50 in the 100?

it would do him no good to fight it. it is an arbitration case. they do not have to have hard evidence to find him guilty in it. he took the lesser of two evils. i don't think he will be stripped of his titles. i can't believe a US organization is going so hard core after one of our own in a foriegn competition. all the runners up to Armstrong in his wins have either admitted or tested postitive.

USADA is just the latest organization to go after Lance, after so many others have failed. The UCI was the first to accuse him, and now are supporting him on this accusation. What's that tell us?
