Really? Steal something and then return it? I wouldn't want my house and address on the news like that.

I wouldn't even report that to the cops.

Dumb all the way around, he shouldn't have a loaded gun left in an unlocked car, whoever wanted to teach him a lesson could have learned a hard lesson themselves, if he has a laoded gun in the car there may be one in the house and if he see's you go in his car you could get SHOT!!! Not to mention burglarizing a vehicle, even if you had intentions on returning the gun

What's dumber? leaving a gun in a car.. or risking your own life by breaking into the car of someone you know carries guns, to steal one of his guns to teach him a lesson about leaving a gun in the car ?

                      Both are equally stupid.

If the knife had some sort of value to the owner, yes.

How many threads have been on here in the last year and a half or so that started "KAT, my truck was broken into. I had my pistol and my etc etc etc in there."

All preventable, but to leave valuables in an unlocked vehicle is stupid, imo.

not the smartest thing to do either, My job kinda puts me in situations involving death to get it done so i overlook things like that sometimes.

Yeah, kinda crazy story...several people on TBH have done this and had them stolen. But to me the "thief" in this situation is even dumber....If he would have just called the police and reported the guy for not securing his weapon, he probably would have gotten the owner in trouble. But how would the "thief" know it was in there without breaking into the car?

My theory is that the thief is just that and knows that it would have carried a stiffer penalty if he would have been caught with a stolen gun. Keep the valuables but leave the weapons. Some how he couldnt resist the temptation to leave the weapons on the porch with the note...LOL Just strange
