    12 lb test?

We caught these two fish this week on 12 lb test with Shimano 4000 spinning reels. I never thought we would get them in. The red weighed 34lbs and the jack weighed just under 30lbs. After 30 minutes we had to start the motor and chase the jack. There was no turning him.Click image for larger version

wow that would be great. The little reels we were just didn't have the torque but the drag worked great.

Nice catch. Key word in your post is "Shimano". 12lb is all I use down here and works great until you snag or rub a rock. I bet that red was fun to catch.

Caught this one on 8lb the other day. Judicious use of drag.

big fish on trout tackle is too much fun. proof again if you know what you're doing you don't need a beefy test.

                        nice job men!

                          Line pound test is overrated.

12 lb with a good reel and drag set correctly will reel in a monstor.

                          Congrats.

I've caught 2 reds over 40 inches on 12 lb mono.
