I felt bad for the guy that's selling bottle water every single day on the same corner here in Houston, then the one day I happened to pull up and a huge rain cloud opened up and sent him running to a new Cadillac parked in the parking lot next door. I do not feel sorry anymore.

If they can ask me for money then they could be asking me if I want fries with my burger. Get a job!

We have them selling bottled water here near my work every day. I don't feel bad because it's a different person each day and each guy has a cooler that's full of water. Where are they getting it from? It's a scam. And just this morning I saw a lady who is there from time to time, and she was getting "dropped off" from a nice mini van. There was also an old guy with a cane, who one day I saw at the near by BK talking on a cell phone and eating better than I was. I don't give $, maybe "doggie bag" if I have any.

there are some that do this for a living. A Houston station did a story several years ago and followed several panhandlers and found that they would park their brand new Cady a few blocks away, put on their dirty clothes and "go to work" on their corner.

          I'd say use your gut!

Make a contribution to your local homeless shelter. Next time your asked for a handout say "no thanks I already gave".

I'm okay with it as long as they're the one's asking. We used to give to the local baseball, soccer, cheerleading, etc. teams because the kids would come by all the businesses and ask for donations. It's nearly impossible to say no when there are a bunch of kids standing in your office. They were "working" for it. Now, they all use fundraising services. I get calls all the time from people (adults) who are obviously in some call center asking for donations to my local schools. People are getting lazier by the minute

Theres a one legged man in a minivan driving around Lindale trying to get gas money to get to Terrell. Van must get terrible milage cause he's been at it for at least 5 years.

I work in Austin and I see the same people on the same corners every single day. It really seems they are on every corner here.

It has been a while since I have given any of them money. Now, I did help a guy buy gas for his car late one night. He was telling the truth and did go buy gasoline right after I gave him enough to get home on.

My sister has been the one lately that has had so many ask her for money. She promptly tells them that she'll go buy them some food. Every single time so far, when she returns with a meal (sometimes from a grocery store and other times from a fast food place) they are nowhere to be found.

There are sometimes a lot that hang out at grocery store parking lots or big box stores telling certain customers their bad luck stories.

There was a guy at 1960 and 45 that had a roll of gauze. Sometimes it'd be on his knee, next on his head etc. We left the bar one night and handed him some beers we had in the truck and he had the nerve to ask if I had some nickels. Last time he got beer from us.
