Nearly 1/2 Corn Devoted to Fuel

Yet another article on how stupid the government leadership is. the article goes on to say more than half of Congress disagrees with the president's decision to continue down this ethanol road.

Researchers at Texas A&M University have estimated that diverting corn to make ethanol forces Americans to pay $40 billion a year in higher food prices. On top of that, it costs taxpayers $1.78 in subsidies for each gallon of gasoline that corn-based ethanol replaces, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Oh, and if that isn't enough, "they" are going to start using other grains too.

It is all a devious plan, IMO.

More efficient vehicles are costing the government fuel tax dollars, so they made a more expensive, less efficient fuel to make up the difference.....plus a little. Nevermind the fact that the more of our food they burn up, the more dependendt we become on them.

Then all they have to do is get control of guns/ammo, and voila!

Tell me that socialist ***** doesn't have bad intentios! Better yet, offer some proof...

It's redistribution of your money at the pump to Midwest corn farmers, plus paying more for corn and meat now with the drought.

Blame Congress, they could repeal the law. That's how the Constitution set up our great country, not with an Emperor who we plead our needs and he rules by executive order.

A lot of the corn in the midwest didn't make it. The price is up because the supply is down. Then only ones making substantialy more are the government on the already insane fuel tax.

Seriously? Does anyone see a cycle here?

... This week, President Barack Obama told a campaign rally in Iowa that the federal government will buy $170 million of meat to prop up the market...

Nor did the farmers have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did.

                      So pay up!

2012 saw 25% more acreage planted in corn and even with the drought the 2012 corn harvest is estimated to be the 8th largest in US history. It may be time to call BS.

Has anyone here Actually ran E-85 in their vehicle?

I doubt anyone in Congress has. Or has even read this article from wikipedia.

Farmers are loving this, but its costing out the wazoo for ranchers to even feed cattle.
