    sheep crossbreeding

do the exotic sheep crossbreed? also will they crossbreed with domestic wool varieties (suffolks, etc)?

Yes on both accounts. Alot of what is passed off on hunting ranches is the result of the variations that result from cross breeding. If you google Texas dall, black hawaiian, painted desert you'll see what they are a combination of

Yes, The Records of Exotics lists a "Mouflon-type" ram, which is a cross-breed. I know Thompson Temple is trying to create a "Texas Bighorn" sheep, that looks a lot like a real bighorn sheep. I believe it is a combination of 3 or 4 different sheep.

The heard is from Colorado. They were full blood mouflon that Rocky Mountain Bighorns bred.

I think originally the corsican sheep was a cross between a mouflon and barbadoe if im not mistaken. Now a days, I think ranches call any brown sheep a "corsican" They were not brought over from corsica. Also the texas dall and black hawaiian names were made up for the hunting industry. A texas dall is nothing more than a white corsican sheep. Same with the black hawaiian, just a black corsican.

nuts. was hoping to diversify the target selection in the pasture by adding a few exotic rams and ewes. not sure the grazing leasee would be real happy about that when he rotates his wool makers through and comes out with some crosses out of his ewes.
