As far as I know you can't glue down "real wood" to concrete.

I just installed laminent in my home myself. 1200+ feet to be exact. I bought the 12 mil stuff that has a 30 year warranty. 3 kids on it and 2 dogs running and sliding on it and no scratches so far. It's easy to put down. All you need is a good miter saw, tape measure, rubber mallet and access to a tablesaw would be great.. if not a skill saw will do for ripping the lengths. Just takes a little time.

A realtor said that real wood floor added to the home value, but laminated wood didn't. I wish I knew if that was true, as selling the house in about 5 years is a definite possibility.

We've been told bamboo, but that was just by a coworker.

A local flooring company will be able to give you better service than a box store, they contract the labor for the local guy anyway. You can get a nice engineered hand scrapped wood floor starting at $6 a sqft, material and labor. PM me if you have any questions.
Laminate. Bamboo would be the worst to use. Get a new contractor.

Was it an installation problem, or are you unhappy with the actual wood?
